Harry Rothel is a Melbourne based painter who aims to strike, engage and excite. His works are a response to numerous sources of inspiration both tangible, intangible and in dreams. These works show commonly seen objects and characters spun into a world of pure psychotic imagination in an attempt to confuse, scare and amuse the viewer.
Overlapping themes of psychotic imagination, abstraction and shape run throughout Harry’s work work. Often as a response to try and make sense of what is going on around him. Harry aims to capture the energy that is within his own head. His paintings are loaded with hints of recognisable imagery and words, which float amongst expressive brush strokes and abstract humorous scenarios that peak beyond a specific space and time.
